HOW PEEING IN THE SHOWER CAN SAVE YOU MONEY – AND WATER

HOW PEEING IN THE SHOWER CAN SAVE YOU MONEY – AND WATER

With the cost of rising water in many parts of the world and concern for the preservation of our natural resources increase, there are many ways to save water we use at home. For example, do you think you can save about knew. 2,500 liters of water per year per person in your household pee in the shower once a day instead of going to the bathroom?

Piss in the shower is no more unpleasant or smelly pee on the toilet. Everything happens in one place. The only difference is that the shower water down with water to be used anyway, while a toilet use (drink!) The water could have been saved, and that is the place where you will save a little water and money.

As with a toilet, you want to avoid splashing of urine everywhere: Men should take flight, and women should squat near the drain. Everything will fall as a shower. In addition, urine is sterile unless you have an infection, so there is nothing to fear point of view of health.

Your water savings depend on how many people live in your home and the amount of water they use their toilets. If you are in Northern Europe in general, there are three different types of toilet: 12 liters toilets, 9 liters toilets modern bathrooms and 2-ras (3 liters and 6 liters). So if you have a family of 5, using modern toilets, which could save 8,200 liters ($ 60) per year if everyone peed in the shower once a day (4,5x5x365). If you have old toilets, the savings can be more than 20,000 liters  per year, but now probably save more money by buying new toilets.

These statistics could be useful for the Danish political Pernille Rosenkrantz-Theil when - live on air in a popular Danish radio - said in a poll that says 29% of all women empty the bladder in the shower. It seems a little crazy that many women who do that. In fact, I surprised.

Another good tip to save shower water: Put a bucket in your shower to collect all outgoing cold water waiting to warm up. This water can be used for other things such as watering your plants or make a cup of tea - is the same water that comes out of your kitchen faucet.
